You are likely to know that each sphere of our activities has its prescribed norms of ethics, or its rules of etiquette. If you do not want to be regarded as a person with bad manners, it is necessary to adhere to these norms. And the sphere of communication is not an exception. We believe you to agree that nowadays we hardly can imagine our life without a cellular phone. They are used by millions of people irrespective of their trades, age or styles. We don’t want to refuse from such a modern comfortable service as a mobile communication. We find the mobile phone an inseparable part of our image and being. But are we always polite and civilized treating our interlocutors or just people turned to be near when you are making your call? It is a pity, but we must answer:”No”. And it is especially related to the youngsters. In modern society a rather big number of children and teens have a personal mobile phone. An adult owning a cellular phone is not a reason for any discussions or arguments. But this is completely opposite about the children. They use the handsets in any place and at any time, regardless of the relevance.
We suppose you to agree that an excessive use of a mobile phone in a public sight is really thoughtless, irritating and ill-mannered thing. The main purpose of the handset is to provide permanent connection between other people and you. But it is not to be used as a toy, indeed. Usually people asked to speak not so loudly reveal real anger. They utter their call is very important. Maybe, but there is no obvious need to make all the people around to be your interlocutors or listeners, how do you think?
So, here are some rules to conduct civilized Mobile Communication.
1. You should switch your Mobile Phone off when being in some cultural place, a theatre, for example. To use a cellular phone there is really rude. The same thing is about concerts, shows, cinemas etc. Can you imagine a dozen of people speaking over their Mobile Telephones in different corners of the concert hall when some symphony by Mozart is played?
2. Resist responding phone calls while driving a vehicle or use a special device. It is not only dangerous, but is forbidden by laws of many states in the world. It is also impolite with respect to the other drivers and pedestrians crossing the footpath at the moment you are chatting over your phone.
3. Do not conduct unnecessary and loud conversations in a bus or other transport where a lot of people are present. They are not by all means interested in your problems and private affairs.
4. Don’t use your phone during some hearty conversation, an important meeting, interviewing a person etc. Be courteous.
You’d probably say that these rules are more often neglected then adhered to. But if all of us try to be polite with each other and respect other men, the situation will change for better. Don’t forget that you live in a society; don’t be selfish and discourteous against the members of this society.
